Madhvi arrived last night from San Francisco, and our plan was to go hiking at Feather Falls. This morning, the weather predicted a 60% chance of rain, but we decided to head out there anyways.
First, we stopped at Lake Oroville, seen here. It was almost a mystical experience. The rain drizzled down on us, and we walked over to the edge of the lake. It was really quiet and peaceful. After walking around here for about an hour, we drove the rest of the way up the mountain to the Feather Falls trail-head.
It was pretty late at this point,
about 3:30 in the afternoon, and so we were able to hike for about a mile to a nice wooden bridge and then back. The forest above eye level was lush and green, but under foot, we walked on bright orange and red leaves. We could see the fog in the valley as we looked down the mountain side.
It was a really fun hike in the misty day even though we did not make it to the actual Feather Falls.
